Introduction of chemical properties of transparent quartz glass
Transparent quartz glass is an acid substance, so it is an excellent acid-resistant material. Except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, any concentration of organic acid and inorganic acid can hardly erode transparent quartz glass even at high temperature.
As an acid-resistant material, transparent quartz glass is superior to all acid-resistant metals and alloys, as well as general organic acid-resistant materials. The acid resistance of transparent quartz glass is 1 to 3 times higher than that of opaque quartz glass:
Quartz glass has poor resistance to the chemical action of alkalis and alkali salts, and is not suitable for application in strong alkali media, because it can generate soluble silicates.
Because quartz glass is an excellent acid-resistant material, it has been widely used in chemical laboratories, and sometimes even partially replaces glassware. In the Ministry of Chemical Industry, quartz glass is used as acid-resistant material to manufacture acid-resistant equipment and glass containers. In the past, due to the high price and less application, with the industrial production of quartz glass in my country, the price has generally been reduced, and it should be vigorously promoted in the future.
