Introduction of Sapphire Glass

Sapphire Glass is a transparent synthetic material, usually made of  Al2O3. Sapphire glass is widely used in a variety of high-end applications, such as watch surfaces, smartphone lenses, camera lenses, submarine windows and laser components, due to its excellent hardness, transparency and scratch resistance.

Sapphire glass, similar in composition to corundum, has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond. It can be produced in a variety of colors by adding various chemical elements, but is commonly used as colourless. It has the advantage of being harder than ordinary glass, so it is relatively expensive, which is mainly used in high-end precision fields.

Features of Sapphire Glass

• Scratch resistance: sapphire glass is made of artificial sapphire crystal, with extremely high hardness, can resist scratches and wear in daily use to maintain the clarity and gloss of the glass surface.

• Transparency and optical performance: sapphire glass crystal has a high degree of transparency and can transmit more light, so that it has a wide range of applications in the field of observation and display. Transmittance band: 185 ~ 5000nm

• High temperature resistance: the melting point of sapphire glass is 2045°C, and the application temperature is generally below 2000°C.

• Pressure resistance: As a kind of high-strength glass, the compressive strength of sapphire glass at room temperature can reach 2.1GPa, so it is used as a viewing window in deep sea diving.
